Minister of Foreign Affairs of Suriname meets with representatives of the diplomatic corps

On February 2, 2026, as part of an official visit to the Federative Republic of Brazil, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Suriname, Melvin Bouva, met with representatives of the diplomatic corps. The event was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Suriname, Zurab Mchedlishvili (resident in Brasília).

The Minister of Foreign Affairs briefed the participants on the foreign policy priorities of Suriname’s new government and highlighted Suriname’s agenda within the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), which the country is set to chair next year.

During the meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Ambassador of Georgia, Zurab Mchedlishvili, underscored the importance of further developing bilateral cooperation and the prospects for deepening trade and economic relations between the two countries.

Melvin Bouva expressed his readiness to contribute to the further strengthening and elevation of relations between the two countries to a higher level.
