Meeting with the Newly Appointed Deputy Foreign Minister of Brazil

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Federative Republic of Brazil, Zurab Mchedlishvili, held an introductory meeting with Roberto Abdalla, the newly appointed Deputy Foreign Minister of Brazil, who oversees relations with Europe and North America.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the positive dynamics of cooperation between Georgia and Brazil, as well as prospects for further deepening relations both bilaterally and multilaterally. Both sides expressed satisfaction that, despite the geographical distance, political dialogue and cooperation between Georgia and Brazil have entered a new dimension, as evidenced by the high-level visits that have taken place this year in various areas involving both legislative and executive branches.

To maintain this growing trend of cooperation, the parties expressed their readiness to actively promote the organization of political dialogue and bilateral visits, as well as to further develop existing ties between the two countries. Particular attention was given to the importance of strengthening cooperation and mutual support within international organizations.

The Georgian Ambassador informed the Brazilian Deputy Foreign Minister about the grave human rights and humanitarian situation in the Russian-occupied regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali. He also spoke about Georgia’s peace initiatives and emphasized the importance of the policy of non-recognition in the region. The meeting also addressed current global and regional developments affecting the security of both countries.
