Brazil’s Capital Hosts Georgia’s Independence Day Celebration
The Embassy of Georgia in the Federative Republic of Brazil organized a special event marking Georgia’s Independence Day at the Claudio Santoro National Theatre in Brasília.
The event was opened by the Ambassador of Georgia to Brazil, Zurab Mchedlishvili. Remarks were also delivered by Georgia’s Deputy Minister of Culture, Giorgi Mirtskhulava, Director of the Europe Department at Brazil’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Flávio Goldman and Marcos Teixeira, Director of FUNARTE, a foundation under Brazil’s Ministry of Culture.
As part of the celebration, the State Ensemble of Georgian Folk Song and Dance Rustavi presented a traditional performance showcasing Georgia’s rich musical and choreographic heritage. The concert was attended by representatives of local authorities, the diplomatic corps and members of the public with an interest in Georgian culture. The ensemble’s performances of Georgian polyphonic singing and traditional dance received an enthusiastic response from the audience.
The event was held with the support of the Ministries of Culture and Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
