Opening of Tbilisi Square in Lima

As part of the official celebrations marking the Independence Day of the Republic of Peru, a square located in the central district of Lima was officially named Tbilisi Square.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of political circles, various departments of the Municipality of Lima, members of the media and other distinguished guests.

The audience was addressed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Peru (with residence in Brasília), Zurab Mchedlishvili. In his remarks, the Ambassador highlighted the positive momentum in bilateral relations between the two countries and the growing interest in Georgian culture.

The Ambassador emphasized that the inauguration of the square dedicated to the friendship between Tbilisi and Lima, which symbolizes the strong friendship and cooperation between Georgia and the Republic of Peru, creates additional opportunities for organizing various cultural activities. These initiatives will further raise awareness of Georgia and contribute to strengthening people-to-people ties.
