Opening of Honorary Consulate of Georgia in São Paulo,

On October 24, 2019, the Georgian Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Brazil inaugurated the Office of the Honorary Consulate of Georgia in the largest city in South America - São Paulo, headed by the Honorary Consul of Georgia, Mrs. Carmen Lúcia Porto Ruette.

The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, municipal and legislative authorities from the city and the state of São Paulo, as well as from the accredited diplomatic corps in São Paulo and from the financial, cultural and business area.

The opening of the Honorary Consulate in Sao Paulo is of great political and economic importance to Georgia. With the opening of this institution, it commits a new stage in the bilateral relations between the two countries, which promoted the protection of the rights and interests of the citizens and legal entities of Georgia, the development of economic-commercial, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation, encouraging tourism and deepening ties between the peoples of both countries.

The opening ceremony was widely addressed by local media.
