Boosting Tourism Cooperation Between Georgia and Rio Grande do Sul
Zurab Mchedlishvili, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Federative Republic of Brazil, held a meeting with Rodrigo Schnitzler, Head of the Tourism Department of the State of Rio Grande do Sul, as part of his working visit to the state.
Ambassador Mchedlishvili provided the Brazilian side with information about Georgia’s tourism potential and ongoing reforms in the sector. In turn, Rodrigo Schnitzler shared the state’s achievements in sustainable tourism development, including efforts in environmental protection and the involvement of local communities. The state is a regional leader in B2B tourism and is planning an international exhibition next year, to which Georgia will be invited.
The meeting explored the possibility of developing joint projects aimed at increasing awareness and interest in Georgia among the population of Rio Grande do Sul from a tourism perspective.
Future joint activities were planned to strengthen international cooperation with Georgia and promote the exchange of experience, particularly in the field of wine tourism (enotourism). A group of journalists from Rio Grande do Sul is scheduled to visit Georgia to explore its tourism model and produce a special program for Brazilian audiences.
