Georgian Ambassador Strengthens Regional Cooperation with Brazilian Cities

As part of a regional working tour in the states of Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Federative Republic of Brazil, Zurab Mchedlishvili, held bilateral meetings with representatives of local authorities in Ouro Preto, Belo Horizonte, Tiradentes and Petrópolis.

The working visit aimed to strengthen relations between Georgia and Brazil at the municipal level and identify areas for cooperation across various fields. The meetings addressed the possibility of organizing visits by local government representatives, which would facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience at the regional level.

Educational and cultural projects were also discussed. The Brazilian side expressed its readiness to support the participation of Georgian artists in festivals and exhibitions held in the respective cities, contributing to greater awareness of Georgia in Brazilian regions. Particular attention was given to the issue of establishing sister-city relations, with both sides emphasizing the importance of taking concrete steps in this direction.

Considering the rich tourism traditions of both states, the meetings placed special emphasis on prospects for developing cooperation in the tourism sector. The parties highlighted tourism as an important tool for strengthening people-to-people connections and deepening economic cooperation, as well as the need to further promote tourism exchanges between Georgia and Brazil.
