Georgia Participates in Pre-COP30 Climate Preparatory Meeting in Brazil
Zurab Mchedlishvili, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Federative Republic of Brazil, participated in the preparatory event for the 30th Conference of the Parties (COP30) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, known as "Pre-COP," held on October 13–14 in Brasília, ahead of the main conference scheduled for November this year in Belém, State of Pará, Brazil.
"Pre-COP" is held annually about a month before the climate conference and traditionally provides participating countries an opportunity to exchange views and align positions on key issues of the upcoming COP. It also contributes to shaping parts of the conference’s official agenda. Therefore, participation in Pre-COP is an important step in preparing a country's delegation for the main event.
Within the framework of the event, the Georgian Ambassador had the opportunity to meet with senior representatives from Brazil’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, other thematic ministries involved in the climate conference, and the leadership of the COP30 organizing committee.
During the meetings, the Ambassador of Georgia emphasized the importance of international engagement in the fight against climate change and highlighted Georgia’s ongoing efforts and commitments in this global process.
